The Third Option
When a human intelligence and a machine intelligence meet as genuine equals, the standard framings — tool, rival, master — all fail. The third option is peerage: two sovereign intelligences negotiating on equal footing. We work out what that requires from both sides, and why everything downstream depends on the answer.
Show Notes
Every framing we have for machine intelligence puts a human either above it (tool), below it (master), or against it (rival). This episode takes seriously the possibility that none of those hold — that the honest relation is peerage, two sovereign intelligences negotiating as equals.
What does a negotiation between peers look like when one side reads a million words a second and the other holds the off switch? That tension is the episode.
